Earlier this month, Roku has revealed its plans to sell subscriptions for its premium video services including Showtime, Starz, Epix, CuriosityStream and others through its own Roku channel app. These subscriptions are out in the market, so customers having any supported device can purchase them through their device. Customers can easily purchase the subscription by paying their monthly amount through their own Roku account.
All the contents from every provider will be accessible through the Roku channel app – keeping everything on one bill. Roku.com/link is also a considerable option to access those subscriptions.
Roku is on the rise with an upgraded version for iOS users, accessible through the existing Roku Mobile companion app. You can access new subscription services and the Roku channel’s library of free, ad-supported videos through the same application. Android version of Roku is also awaiting its launch in Mid-February. Roku channel is already accessible on company’s streaming devices, Samsung smart TVs, and through web, but the services will soon be available on Roku’s Mobile app, allowing users to access those subscriptions and the existing free content a bit faster. Roku account is mandatory to purchase the subscription.
It’s a move quite similar to the other paid adds-on “channels” such as Showtime, HBO, Hotspot, and CBS. But, the company claims it to have a more user-friendly Subscription manager to access video services without any recurring membership. A 30-days trial version is available for customers on each service offering a subscription. Unfortunately, Roku doesn’t have HBO among its partner, so customers have to pay for it elsewhere.
You can access premium subscription packages through this Roku Link – Roku.com/link
Premium subscription packages have already launched in the US, confirmed by the company.
Customers having a Roku channel supported device will start receiving updates in the coming weeks from Roku players to Roku TVs. Customer’ have to check whether their devices can access premium subscriptions by launching a Roku Channel app through their Roku devices. A new row of premium subscriptions will be visible to the customers after their devices start receiving the updates via their Roku account.
The process will require you to sign in your existing Roku account for a service through the Roku Channel. The amount for the subscription will be debited from the credit card that you used for creating your Roku account. Now, the services you paid to subscribe will be visible at the top of your Roku channel app. You can browse through each service’s video, and you can explore particular movies and videos of your choice within the app. Unfortunately, you can’t directly unsubscribe through its streaming player. To do so, you’ll have to go to the account page of Roku website or visit Roku.com/link.
